FRED, created and maintained by Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, goes far beyond simply providing data: It combines data with a powerful mix of tools that help the user understand, interact with, display, and disseminate the data.
Global Health ObservatoryGlobal Health Observatory (GHO) [is a] gateway to health-related statistics from around the world. The aim of the GHO is to: compile and verify major sources of health data; provide easy access to country data and metadata; present scientifically sound information in user-friendly formats. GHO theme pages will cover global health priorities such as the health-related Millennium Development Goals, women and health, mortality and burden of disease, disease outbreaks, health equity and health systems. Each theme page will present: highlights showing the global situation and trends, using regularly updated core indicators; data views customized for each theme, including country profiles and a map gallery; publications relevant to the theme; links to relevant web pages within WHO and elsewhere. The GHO will provide access to an interactive repository of health statistics. Users will be able to download data sets in various formats, display data for selected indicators, health topics, countries and regions, and download the customized tables in Excel format. The GHO will issue analytical reports on priority health issues, including the World Health Statistics annual publication, which compiles statistics for key health indicators. Analytical reports will address cross-cutting topics such as women and health.
