This past summer, in conjunction with OhioLINK, the Library Services department began work on a migration to a new library services platform that will culminate in a newly revamped Ksearch tool currently targeted for debut to its users in the summer of 2025.
Why is this happening?
The library services platform migration project was initiated in 2023 by a statewide RFP coordinated by the OhioLINK academic library consortium and will affect all of its 117 member libraries. This is the first major software overhaul of its kind to be performed in over twenty-five years.
What will be affected?
The platform migration will directly affect the tools now known as Ksearch, CONSORT, and the OhioLINK catalog. Resources currently searched for within these three separate platforms will coalesce under a single Ksearch interface. All content- and title-level searches for all formats will begin with Ksearch which can be filtered to direct you to the most efficient access. KSearch will also serve as the resource to monitor your library account.
Who will this affect?
The migration will affect all Kenyon faculty, student, and staff library users. Your current Kenyon credentials will serve as the primary means for accessing and requesting resources.
When will this happen?
The current migration timeline calls for a “go-live” date in late June of 2025. The library will continue to share updates on the progress of this project and will provide more details as they become available. Related training will be delivered and feedback solicited as we approach next summer’s deadline. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting event as it develops.
