The CONSORT catalog can be used to locate books, video and sound recordings, and some government documents available in the Kenyon, Denison, Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster libraries. You can also search the OhioLINK Central Catalog for the holdings of 90 libraries throughout Ohio. You may borrow books directly from either CONSORT or OhioLINK. Requested materials typically arrive at Kenyon from Consort libraries 3 to 4 working days after the request is made. Ohiolink materials are generally received in 5 to 7 working days after the request is made.
In general I prefer to conduct keyword searches based on an author's last name (if known) and a word from the title of the book or the general subject of my research topic. For example, if I want to know if a copy of Hampson's Madness in the Multitude is held in Consort I would run the following KEYWORD search:
If the Consort copy was unavailable (either checked out, missing or on course reserve for on of the libraries) I would check Ohiolink, using the same search and by clicking the red 'Ohiolink' search button:
Please be aware of the following if you decide to do author, title or subject searches in the Consort or Ohiolink catalog. For authors, you must have the correct spelling of the author's last name. Foreign names are often tricky and you may speak with a librarian if you have a problem with an author's last name. If you wish to search only by the title of the book, please be sure you know the correct title. For a search of Madness in Multitude you will get 0 results because the correct title is Madness in the Multitude. And lastly, if you search by subject headings these must be based on Library of Congress terms. Speak with a librarian the first time you want to search by subject headings, these are based on very specifically constructed words.
