Summon & Other Library Tools

Summon is the library's primary discovery tool and performs a "Google-like" search of as much of the library's paid electronic content as possible in one place. It also searches the library's traditional catalog holdings (CONSORT) at the same time and is therefore a good place to begin a general search on nearly any given topic.

Given the breadth of searching in Summon, you are likely to receive a lengthy list of results. It is important to be aware of the facets available to you (displayed along the left hand column of your results list) which provide the ability to narrow your results by such criteria as scholarly literature, full text online, content type (journal articles, news items, eBooks), publication date, or subject areas.

In addition to Summon, there are other available library tools which can help you discover and access resources for your research. These include:

Subject Specific Databases

You will likely find the following databases and electronic resources useful to your research this semester. While many of them are also indexed in and covered by Summon, it can also be helpful to search within a smaller scope.
