Getting Started

A selection of suggested literary and historical books from the Reference Section is listed below. Reference books are useful when you need to find background information on a specific area or person. Books you will find in the reference area include encyclopedias and dictionaries. As you will see from the titles listed below, many books are specialized to your area of study. A bonus to using reference books is many times, the authors will provide bibliographies and/or cite their sources so you can easily find authoritative books and journal articles on your research topic.

The Reference Section is located on the 2nd floor of the library in the Research Lounge, along the back wall beyond Helpline and computers. For further directions either ask for help at the Research & Reference Desk or look at this map
