Find Books in Consort

Find Books in CONSORT:
CONSORT is our local catalog and is used to locate books, government documents, microforms, video, sound recordings, journals at the title level, and special collections materials. CONSORT can also be used to search and request items available at Denison, Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster libraries. Additionally, and CONSORT search can be expanded to search the OhioLink catalog by clicking the red 'Search OhioLink' button at the top right of any CONSORT Search.

In addition to CONSORT, Kenyon students can request materials from OhioLINK, the combined catalog of over 89 libraries throughout Ohio. Expect materials to arrive between four and six business days.

WorldCat is a catalog of library holdings throughout the country and world. It contains records for any type of materials: books, sound recordings, video recordings, manuscripts, etc. Click the ILL (interlibrary loan) button from within WorldCat to request an item be sent to you at Kenyon. Delivery time will vary depending on the location of the material.

Finding Books in the Library Catalog

Keyword & Subject Searching:

Keywords are significant words or concepts that express an idea or topic. They are an example of "natural language" access to information, in which you use words in the natural order to describe a topic.  A keyword search finds the word or phrase you choose in any field of the catalog record. Keywords are also used for searches in computer-based periodical indexes and Internet search engines.

In addition to keywords, you also have the option of searching by an item's title, or an author's name (Last, First), or specific call number.

Each item in the catalog has also been assigned one or more subject heading. In contrast to keywords, Library of Congress subject headings are examples of a "controlled vocabulary" access to information. You can search and browse specific subject heading in CONSORT, or you can access them at the bottom of the library record of a related book. It is often a useful way to find works related o particularly relevant item.
